The exhibition L’Eau et les Rêves suggests an

incursion into the world of photography with great

contemporaries, culminating in some video works.

With water - signature of Impressionism - as common

thread, L’Eau et les Rêves revives to the themes held

dear to the Impressionists : the light, the passage, fluid,

material, intimate ... many points of convergence,

sometimes resurgence, in any case a complete rewriting

by modern artists who claim and assume the legacy of

their elders.

L’Eau et les Rêves presents forty-three photographic

works by contemporary artists and five video works.

In all, twenty-three artists are associated with the rebirth

of Jumi.ges abbey house, in mirror with amazing

lapidary, witnesses of the history of the place.

From the annoyed by Alain Fleischer, chimeras sitting up

the young asleep princes of Jumi.ges to the underwater

explorations of Philippe Ramette ; from the imaginary

cascade of Didier Massard to the rising diver of Joel

Meyerowitz or the immersed bodies of

Marie-Paule N.gre, from the . new landscapes .

of Bernard Faucon to the enigmatic mirror of water of

Noa Gur, from the game picture/word game of Chris

Quanta to the marine dizziness of Ange Leccia ; from the

wadding fog of Beatrice Pediconi or Ali Kazma to the

enclosed world of Gilbert Garcin ; from the trembling

swell of Paul Thorel to the dark magic of Georges Rousse

or Barbara Luisi ; from the Sahelian cosmogony

of Nicola Lo Calzo to the écritures végétales of Martine

Mougin and to the graphic waters of Patrick Tosani ; from

the poetic paintings of Christophe Campello, Bernard

Descamps, Bernard Plossu or G.rard Rondeau, to the

singularity of Sarah N. Each of these works express the

permanence of emotions that we have inherited from

the Impressionists.
